<div itemprop="description">DYKHUIS, George (Geert), <br />After a brave struggle with cancer, George went home to the Lord at age 95 on Thursday 3 March 2016 at St. Joseph&rsquo;s Hospice, London. Born on 6 October 1920, in Roden, Drenthe, Netherlands, George was the loving husband of Marion (McNeil) and his late first wife Martha (Martje Eizinga). George was a loving father to Peter Dykhuis and spouse Jayne Wark of Halifax and Margaret Dijkhuis and husband Pieter Pereboom of Ilderton. Proud Grandfather to Martha Claire Dykhuis and Doyle Peck Lahey of Halifax, Lucy Evelyn Dykhuis and Adam Yaremy of Halifax, Jonathan Derk Dijkhuis Pereboom and Heidi Koopman of Ilderton/London. Stepfather to Maureen (McNeil) and Jim Jewell of Leamington. Step grandfather to John and Erin Jewell of Calgary and Paul and Courtney Jewell of Calgary. Brother-in-law to Anneke (Eizinga) and Jos Van Helvoort of St. Thomas. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister-in-law Grace (Geertje Eizinga) and brother-in-law George (Geert) Veenstra of London. The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit University Hospital and staff and volunteers St. Joseph&rsquo;s Hospice for their wonderful care and support. Visitation Monday March 7, 2016 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1997 Dundas St E, London (one block east of Clarke Rd). Funeral service Tuesday March 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone United Reformed Church, 180 Waterloo Street, London, officiated by Pastor Steve Williamson.
