<div itemprop="description">In her 102nd year, our wonderful, amazing matriarch passed away on July 3, 2015 at St. Joseph's Health Care - Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Barnes (1989). Loved Mother of Joseph Barnes (Sue) and Leonard Barnes (Barb). Grandmother to Adam (Joanne), Peter (Jennifer), Karen (Steve), Chris (Sandi), Corey (Tammie), Casey (Debbie), Collin (Janet). Great-Grandmother to 21 and Great-Great-Grandmother to 6. Pre-deceased by her parents, Charles, Flora, and brother Edwin. Ferna was born in Hamilton, Ontario on August 8, 1913. The family then moved to Thedford Ontario, where she attended high school and helped her parents Charlie and Flora on the farm. After marrying Ray she spent time working in Detroit. They moved to London, Ray's home town, bought a house in London South, where they brought up their two sons, Joe and Len. Ferna lived there for over 75 years, only moving to Mount Hope in her 101st year. She cherished her time and friends wile working at Western University until her retirement. In her retirement she enjoyed volunteering at Meals on Wheels, Brain Tumour Foundation and other volunteer roles. She loved dancing at every opportunity. Her favourite saying was &quot;it is just like a dream,&quot; will always bring a smile to all of her family. She was &quot;our dream,&quot; our sweet, special lady. The family wishes to thank all of the nurses and staff at Mount Hope for their kind and loving care during the last eight months. Special thank you to Cheshire Homes. Visitation will take place at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1997 Dundas Street East (at Wavell), London on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., where the funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, London. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation London - Mount Hope Long Term Care or to Meals on Wheels, London.</div>
